Motorcycling-Crash holds up Czech GP warm-up sessions
BRNO, Czech Republic, Aug 19 (Reuters) - The morning warm-up session for the 250cc Czech Grand Prix was halted on Sunday after Japanese rider Taro Sekiguchi crashed full speed into another bike lying on the circuit.
The Aprilia rider, 31, was propelled into the air after slamming into the bike of Italian Marco Simoncelli, who crashed seconds earlier after coming out of a corner.
Sekiguchi was motionless on the tarmac after the crash as emergency crews rushed to the scene.
"He is in a lot of pain. But he is breathing and not in danger," an official for race promoter Dorna told Reuters.
A medic on the scene said Sekiguchi probably suffered a serious concussion. The rider, who qualified 15th fastest for the race, was taken to hospital by helicopter.
The crash delayed the warm-up session for the MotoGP class, but officials said all races would start on time.
